Challenge Guidelines

Introduction

Xceleader and The Collective have partnered together to organize a national #VoteHBCU voter registration and engagement initiative.

The goal of this initiative is to mobilize HBCU students, alumni, supporters, and affiliates to become registered voters and highlight the importance of voting down the ballot.

Official Challenge Entry On or around August 19, 2020, Sponsors will send an electronic mail communication to the Vice President of Student Affairs, a Media/Public Relations Personnel, and/or a University Administrator from its list of HBCUs soliciting their consideration for participation in the #VoteHBCU challenge. In that email, there will be a link which the Respondent can use to confirm their participation via submission of contact information and opt-in to a short commitment message. If an eligible institution does not receive communication they should contact votehbcu@xceleader.com.

Only verified and confirmed Respondents by the Sponsors will be acknowledged as active participants in the #VoteHBCU Voter Registration Challenge.

Eligibility

Respondents must meet the following criteria at the time of Challenge entry and maintain it throughout the duration thereof:

  • Have accredited HBCU status, as determined by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Have access to the internet and a valid email address.

Voter Registration Challenge

This challenge is non-partisan and is primarily focused on increasing the number of registered voters who are HBCU students, alumni, supporters, and affiliates. Respondents who enter understand that winners by tier will be named the “HBCU Voter Registration School of the Year” and absolutely no monetary contribution made to any participating entity.

In order to level the playing field, the Sponsors have chosen to use a “Tier System.” This structure will ensure equal opportunity for schools both large and small in size. Respondents will be sorted in tiers by the following:

  • Tier 1, which includes those Respondents with a student enrollment of 4,000 or more;
  • Tier 2, which includes those Respondents with a student enrollment between 1,201 and 3,999; and
  • Tier 3, which includes those Respondents with a student enrollment of 1,200 or less.

Points Every one (1) completed voter registration via the Rock The Vote (“RTV”) database will count as one point. Points will be tallied daily and a leaderboard with the top three schools in each tier will be displayed. All other schools will be ranked in descending order based on their total number of registrations at the time of the daily pull which shall be determined by the Sponsor. Duplicate registrations will not be counted. There shall be one point per registration, and all registrations are subject to the Sponsors review for credit toward Respondent registration totals.

Links Each Respondent will have a unique vanity link that is specific to their HBCU. That link will be linked to the RTV tool where participants can register to vote.

Challenge Period The challenge will be held beginning August 21, 2020, and ending October 7, 2020.

Disqualification

The Sponsors may choose to disqualify any Respondent participating in the challenge if they reasonably believe that the Respondent has cheated or tried to undermine the legitimacy and integrity of the challenge in any way. These include, but are not limited to, harassment, threats, abuse, annoyance, or any other act that the Sponsor has deemed inappropriate toward other Respondents, the Sponsor, or other affiliated agencies. Any false information provided within the context of the initiative provided by the Responded or the noncompliance with any of these rules may result in the immediate disqualification of the Respondent from the challenge.

Disqualification is at the sole discretion of the Sponsors.

Sponsor is not responsible for the functionality and accuracy of the RTV tool.
